Matt Hutchins is Senior Resilience Analyst and leads the Client Services Team at Fernleaf. Matt has over 12 years of experience supporting groups and communities in planning and making informed decisions on environmental issues. He has specialized expertise in conducting data-informed climate resilience assessments, and working with communities on implementing options to build resilience.
Matt has worked with communities across the U.S. but more recently has focused on working with communities in the Southeast that are dealing with hazards that range from wildfire to flooding and sea level rise. Matt and his team implement Fernleaf’s unique practice of delivering a combination of climate resilience services and decision support tools to communities and partners that serve as a foundation to support ongoing decisions. This includes implementation of NOAA’s Steps to Resilience framework and the AccelAdapt tool, which provides interactive vulnerability and risk assessments to support communities and practitioners within local government.

Matt has a Masters Degree from the University of North Carolina in Asheville and is a member of the American Society of Adaptation Professionals.
