In 2021, Fernleaf worked with the City of North Miami to develop a Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment and Adaptation plan. This effort resulted in a detailed vulnerability assessment and an initial set of strategies and actions that the City can explore further. In 2023, Fernleaf, in partnership with UNC Asheville’s NEMAC & Geosyntec, began working with the City to develop an expanded Flood Vulnerability Assessment for the City of North Miami to align it with the standards set by the Resilient Florida program. The updated assessment will incorporate updated storm surge and tidal flooding models from the initial analysis, along with required future scenarios.
